About

Welcome to Sweetnest! I’m Jamie, a gal on a mission to make my life and home a bit sweeter, one DIY project at a time. I currently know very little about painting, sewing or carpentry but I do know what looks good, what makes me feel good and what’s transforming my cookie cutter house into a home. As much as I admire very modern, high-design homes it’s just not my style. My husband, JD and I are very laid back, casual (kind of trendy) people so we want our home to reflect this. I’m dubbing our style “Comfortable-Chic” but if I had to use retail stores to classify it, it would probably be “Pottery Barn style on a Marshall’s budget with a splash of Crate and Barrel.”

JD and I bought this house in Bumpass, VA (feel free to start cracking on us now) in 2009. We started out on a 2-4 year plan which is turning into a 10 year plan due to the economy. Richmond seems like a better fit for us (driving 15 minutes for milk and paint is painful!) but until then we’re going to make the best of what “The Bumpass” has to offer – which is a beautiful home on 5 acres of sweet nothings. “The Bumpass” is also home to our adorable Jack Russell, Bo, who probably loves this house the most. I have a feeling you will get to know more about Bo than you may want to.

Since I also have a full-time career in Marketing, most of my DIYing happens on the weekend but I’ll definitely try my hardest to keep you up-to-date on all projects and news.

I hope along this journey of teaching myself, I’m also able to teach, inspire and humor you!

Cheers,

Jamie

Thanks for making a headboard for MY ROOM!. It looks great. Good Job! I have a suggestion for your site. In the tabs at the top – Home, About, why don’t you add a favorite section- you could put all your fabulous find, Target bedspreads, glue, etc. in there for a one stop shop. XOXOXOX
